International fashion icon Diane Pernet presents A Shaded View on Fashion Film 2010, the third edition of Paris's annual film festival dedicated to Fashion, Style and Beauty with special guest judge superstar fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson. Copenhagen Fashion Week - day 5

I've been staying with some friendly people in Christiania for the past 3 days and was very much enjoying this beautiful morning. My only shows today were KEA and POP with plenty of time to interview the designers. Backstage at KEA I bumped into Stine, a make-up artist from MAC whom I met backstage at another show while I was trying to film the chef de cabine (who was trying to leave). Stine is such a lively enthousiastic person and it's so nice to be around her. She intived me to a fashion party at the Jazzhouse later that night. At first I thought I would only go to the Wood Wood party. A friend of mine got two tickets for me, but had other plans himself. I was planning to take Nonni with me, but he got hit by a car and refused to go out. Instead we had pizza and he improvized some electronic music for me. Apparently there was an afterparty going on at POP as well but I thought that I would meet new blogger friends of mine Tine & Eva at Wood Wood so I rushed there.

The Red Pimp cafe (Wood Wood party) was crowded, no wardrobe and smoke everywhere. Though there were some cool people and hot guys, I wasn't feeling like staying there because my friends were still at the Bibi Ghost iPod battle and I didn't know anyone in the crowd. So I called up Stine and found my way to the Jazzhouse. Which was much nicer, much more glamorous with many important people from the fashion industry. Clubkids with painted faces and sexy dressed up girls. After a little while Stine decided to go home because she wasn't feeling very well and I went with her. It was nice to chill out at her place. Stine loves house decorations and has the craziest props from shop windows which she takes after the shop is through with them. I like people who reap the advantages of our throw away culture!

Copenhagen Fashion Week - day 4

Today was less busy than yesterday but more memorable in terms of shows! Of course the top of the crown was the Henrik Vibskov show. The show was swarmed by unidentified flying objects and cool people. Earlier in the evening I bumped into some animal rights activists at the by Malene Birger show. I was a bit dissapointed that they were gone after the show. It seems to me if you want to make a statement, than don't leave! Some of my fellow bloggers had doubt if the fur in the show was real at all and they were a bit furious about the dog which the activists paraded. The dog was barking and clearly in distress. Really if one wants to make a statement against animal abuse, maybe you should leave the dog in peace at home...

Copenhagen Fashion Week - day 3

Today was the busiest day of all the Fashion Week with shows from 10am to midnight! Another day standing in rows before the shows sipping on drinks and checking out what the fabulous guests are wearing. I got to sit next to Ivan the Facehunter at the Wackerhouse show and asked him some questions about his visit to Ukraine last year. He said that he appreciated that the people in Kiev put effort into dressing up but he didn't like their style. Ivan spend his time in Kiev hanging around with the people @ X'U, one of our best young designers, whom he walked the catwalk for during the Ukrainean Fashion Week.
At some point in the evening I got a bear which I was carrying around with me to several shows. Apparently I drink too slow for this type of schedule... The highlight of my day were the MONKEY JEANS girls who were giving out these delicious cupcakes!!! And then the after party at Vilsbol de Arce with DATAROCK playing live. That band is so good, they seriously charged up my battery. Which was good because I swapped them for a night of sleep...

Copenhagen Fashion Week - day 2

P1260928.jpg

Finally the shows have begun and a busy day it was! Luckily for me this year I am traveling with the VIP Press Bus. Otherwise there is no telling how I would get from show to show in this years true winter weather. Though Denmark is one of the Northern countries, snow is not common here. Mostly it melts right after it snowed, but this year it just kept on going. However it didn't stop the fashionistas from wearing high heels. The shows which I visited today are uploaded on our Youtube Channel.

SCOOP // ICON Exhibition February 9 to 14 @ Gallery DASK in Copenhagen

SCOOP // ICON

An unusual collaboration has resulted in an unusual art project to be launched in February during Danish Fashion Week at gallery DASK. The project is called ICON and is the work of SCOOP MODELS and two graphic designers − Dennis Lynge and Michael Nygaard.

ICON blends historical methods of representing ideals of beauty with modern concepts of the perfect body. Nine models from SCOOP MODELS − who are particularly representative of current trends in beauty − have been selected and their bodies have been recreated as photos of classical marble statues. Photos that reflect the fashion industry's perception of beauty, youth and perfection. In this way the ICON project is not only an original art project but also a way of handing the beauty ideals of 2010 over to the future.

The models from SCOOP MODELS are Amanda Nørgaard, Marikka Juhler, Nina Lund, Trine Hyldtoft, Albert Krarup, Jesper Lund, Mathias Lauridsen, Michael Winther and Sebastian Lund.

The exhibition opens with a reception on Tuesday, 9th February 5:00pm at gallery DASK, Flæsketorvet 24, 1711 Copenhagen V − and will be on show until Sunday the 14th February.

Copenhagen Fashion Week - day 1

I am back in lovely Copenhagen for the Fashion Week! Arrived yesterday noon with 3 hours of sleep in the past 48 hours. Met up with Joen & the rest of the SLAIB Magazine crew. Had a very nice time chatting with them and in the evening I end up at the Scoop Models presents ICON exhibition. Joen was so kind to introduce me to some cool people from the Copenhagen fashion scene, like topmodel Mathias Lauridsen, whom I shot some cool interviews with for 360Fashion TV.

The Serpent Goddess collection by Mada van Gaans @ AIFW 2010

This season's collection by Mada van Gaans is called "The Serpent Goddess". The name very much accentuated the feeling and shapes of the collection. This seasons inspiration came from a mythical Greek godess of around 1600 B.C. and followed in the footsteps of Mada's last collection which was inspired by the Cobra snake. Thus the multitude of black present in the collection.

I can appreciate the textures of the fabric which Mada used to underline the idea of snake skin and the elegant twist on raincoats. It is quit rare to see some designer raincoats while it should be unmissable in a rainy country like Holland! Designers usually stick to the regular wardrobe and overlook special needs items. I think that Mada set a clever move by designing these coats and I hope that they will be as much appreciated by her clients.

The show was styled by Sonny Groo, founder and editor of MYKROMAG, who is famous for the use of black. I believe he did a very good job on this show and highlighted the strong points of the collection in stead of letting them dissapear in the blackness. The overall look of the girls is very classy and elegant, which fits Mada's designs very well. I hope that both of them have a bright future in Dutch fashion because it can seriously use some elegance...

P.S. I have to say that I love the Mada van Gaans (goody)bag which I got as a present for visiting the show. It is made of grey felt with black fake leather straps and has the elegant Mada van Gaans logo printed on top. Just the right size for my laptop.

Bibi van der Velden show ended the AIFW 2010

Most AIFW insiders can agree that AIFW saved the best for last! Guests of the Bibi van der Velden show were amazed by what they saw. It's as if they were transported into the future or some far off galaxy. Bibi's models were dressed in skin color tights & tops with the fabulous artistic jewellery worn on top. I must say that the laser show was a great idea for the finale of the fashion week. Which will no doubt remain one of the prominent memories among the guests about AIFW 2010.

Bibi van der Velden was sponsored by Samsung LadyPhone. Which is one of the reasons why I was so interested to write about this show. 360Fashion has been a pioneer in mobile reporting for years and a laser show dedicated to the ladyphone is truly something we can admire. What would us girls do without our mobile phone??? But a classy lady phone is 1.000 times better!

My personal opinion on the jewellery collection by Bibi van der Velden is that some pieces, specially the one worn by Yfke Sturm, reminded me of the robot lady by Thierry Mugler back in the 90's. It is hard to outdo Thierry Mugler, if possible at all... However I did like the glass jewellery and the fabulous rhinestones make-up on one of the models. To be quit honest my favourite piece was not on the models at all, but on Bibi herself! Look at that bizar earpiece! I would like to try that on for size. My overall impression about the Bibi van der Velden collection is that Lady Gaga would definitely add these creations to her wardrobe repertoire.

With thanks to photographer Tony Newitt. Please click the "continue reading" button below this post to see the rest of the pictures.

A general impression of AIFW 2010

The Amsterdam International Fashion Week is over and we all finally have time to sit back and digest all that we have seen. This season I was pleasantly surprised by the artistic aspect in the presentations of the collections. I have a preference for performances in stead of just models walking back and forth on the catwalk. Copenhagen Fashion Week is my personal favourite place to be for artistic shows. But Paris is just as amazing at the moment, who can forget the Sonia Rykiel for H&M show? We are moving towards a Sense Driven Society, with everyone trying to add an extra layer to their presentations. This season AIFW really participated in this trend!

I was expecting something special from And Beyond... and their presentation stole my heart, but there were two other shows by EnD & NON by Kim which caught my imagination. Jan Taminiau delivered the full package, gorgeous collection and a fabulous up to date presentation. We all feel that this collection brings him closer to international fame! Among other artistic presentations were Quoc Thang and Painted a m u s e.

All the footage which I shot during the AIFW 2010 is online on our 360FashionTV youtube channel. Here is a summary of all the shows which I visited:

Some cool blogs where AIFW 2010 was featured:
Team Peter Stigter - The one and only unmissable catwalk photographer in Holland.
Dutch Elle - Busy and somewhat confusing site, features show video's, pictures, guests etc.
Official AIFW Blog - Features all events with a few pictures.
Runway Passport - This one has very nice, long reviews of some shows.
A Shaded View on Fashion - Diane Pernet blog with international coverage by multiple people.

Team Peter Stigter launched a new idea @ AIFW 2010 called Streethearts. The project is basically a real time streetstyle blog with a rating system. Visitors of the fashion week could stick little hearts on their favourite outfit and the winner would get a printed poster at the end of the fashion week. I was also featured on the wall, in the upper right corner. So now you know who I am...
